Sri Bhagavatula Venkata Rama Sarma
Smt. Sreedevi first started her dance journey under the guidance of Sri. Bhagavathula Venkata Rama Sarma. BVR Sarma was born to a traditional kuchipudi dance family and started learning dance at the age of 7. He learned from Sri Bhagavathula YagnaNarayana Sarma and Dr. Sri Vempati chinna satyam. To furthur his education, BVR Sarma Garu went on to get his certificate and diploma in both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dance forms. Over the past 45 years, he had more than 25,000 students, composed more than 500 solo items in the traditional format and conducted more than 500 stage performances. BVR Sarma also holds various awards including the KalaRatna, Natya Kala Ratna, NatyaChara and many more.
A.B. Bala Kondala Rao
Guru Sreedevi then went on to learn from, Kalaratna A B Balakondala Roa. A B Balakondala Rao was born in Andhra Pradesh and recieved her classical draining for Kuchipudi from Shri Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. "Balakka" is well known in the kuchipudi world because of her involvement in major dance festivals and organization of dance camps all over the world including USA, Germany, France, Russia and UK. She also published a book on the aduvus in Kuchipudi dance and has been awarded many awards for her work such as the Siddendhra Kalakshetra, Kala Ratna and Kala Puraskar.
Padma Bhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam
Smt. Sreedevi Yadlapati also learned from Dr. Padmabushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam started his dance journey at a young age from Vedantam Lakshmi Naryana Sastry. He choreographed many pieces that are still popular today and he redefined Kuchipudi with the addition of different elements that brought a different meaning to the dance form as a whole. He was also awarded many prestigious awards, the Padmabushan, the Kalaprapurna, The Golden Key award from the mayor of Miami, just to name a few. He is an immensely decorated Kuchipudi Artist and Smt. Sreedevi had the privilege of being his student.
